Ali's classical training and love of poetry inform the lyrics, melodies, and textures of her songs which take flight with the help of guitarist, Ryan VandeBrake and bassist, Daniel Benoit. Ali's soulful and crystalline voice invites us to revel in our kaleidoscopic journey.

The talented musicians that perform with Ali are lovingly dubbed, 'Wild Geese,' as they join Ali when they can, and sometimes from afar, to make music. The name comes from Mary Oliver's poem, 'Wild Geese.'

Before the pandemic Ali performed as a double bassist with the National Symphony, Detroit Symphony, and Baltimore Symphony. Ali is a professional orchestral, operatic, and chamber double bassist who has performed and toured internationally. She also plays, sings, and arranges for QuinTango; a Virginia-based, chamber tango ensemble. Her career has taken her on tour to Russia and Carnegie Hall with the National Symphony Orchestra as well as Germany, Turkey, Spain, and Austria with Christoph Eschenbach and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. Ali is an Interlochen Arts Camp Alumni as well as a former Tanglewood fellow.

She has since moved to Austin, Texas to continue singing and songwriting as the founder of Ali and the Wild Geese. Ali's first album is ready to record and preparations are underway and you can hear her songs on YouTube or at her live shows. Ali also plays with Austin americana band, The Way Down who shares her love for harmonies and stories.

Ali is passionate about and continues to perform with QuinTango. Dubbed by the Washington Post as, “One of Washington’s finest instrumental ensembles.” Their classical chops, jazz harmonies, and intimate arrangements are written for the group by outstanding composers in Buenos Aires as well as our own musicians. ‘Chamber tango’ is the result of this musical alchemy, a middle ground that draws in lovers of both classical and non-classical music to experience the fullness of life—the stories, the culture, and the exhilaration of tango. QuinTango tours nationally and internationally as artistic diplomats passionate about tango and community.
